In November, Stages launched a three-month anti-racism
facilitation skills training course, welcoming a cohort of
Houston-based arts advocates working to create social
change in our city. This course is facilitated by nationally
celebrated ArtEquity and hosted by Stages with
underwriting from sponsor Houston Endowment and
additional support from Macy’s.
WHY?
Our shared goal is to create a cohort of advocates who are working across
the Houston arts community serving as change agents to create racial
equity. We firmly believe this cohort will create collective impact that will
benefit the fullness of our community.
WHO?
The cohort comprises a diverse group of more than 50 participants
including both individual artists/administrators and representatives from
a wide range of Houston arts organizations.
WHAT?
A series of seven half-day training sessions will take place November
2020 through March 2021. Training will start with foundational concepts
in November/December and then move into concentrated facilitation
skills development in February/March.
One of Stages’ key strategic goals is to build equity, diversity and
inclusion in our Stages community. We are thrilled to join in this work
with so many others from our incredible Houston arts community.
