it would take a book this size to mention them all. But of
course, we have to give some credit where credit is due.

In the literary world, I have read so many good books on so
many subjects that I would be loathe to even try to count
them — or quantify their importance to me. But one in
particular is very special. Many years ago my very good
life-long friend Ed Brown sent me a well-worn paperback
book in the mail. “Hey, Alan" the note read- " Check this
book out - you could finish this guy's sentences!"

He had sent me author M. Scott Peck's well-known work,
The Road Less Traveled. Surely as Ed had predicted, I was
reading much of my own philosophy right back to myself.
It was a fantastic read, but there was so much more. Thanks,
            my brother Ed!

Scott had crystallized many of the things I had been
thinking about and gave me a precipice from which to
launch more in the way of complete thoughts and
philosophies. He helped me tie so much together and see
relationships in concepts that were previously dangling
            quite solitary in my brain.

It would be many years before I felt as though I could
properly write these things down in a way that at least
made the effort to make some sense, but Scott's book
certainly gave me vision to get it done. The astute reader
will notice some parallels here with Mr. Peck's work. If
anyone ever came to see this work as a companion piece to
Scott's books, I would be forever honored.

I was also honored that my good friend Tim Dinan would
be the first person to read these words. His input and time
spent was greatly appreciated and invaluable. A true
            brother. Thanks, Tim.
