The Importance of Thinking Progressively

Often on these pages I have discussed the importance of
hard work, and how much of that work is deeper thinking
than we might do on a regular basis. We might call that
Progressive Thinking. This is when we start thinking about
a subject, getting to a point in which certain ideas start to
form, keep thinking about the ideas and their possible
ramifications and how they relate to each other and what
they might imply, carefully analyze how they might react
and coexist with each other, and try to put everything
together until you have exhausted any and all possibilities,
carrying the resulting concepts to their logical and
reasonable and most likely truthful conclusions. I know,
this sounds like an inordinate amount of work, but it is
what we must do if we are to give ourselves a fighting
chance to seek out that actual truth of a matter.

I hear and read many opinions and ideas that seem to be
just the very first conclusion someone came to that works
for them and the heck with anyone else. People do that
because it is hard work to think progressively and often
when you do it, you find that your conclusions create even
more work, psychological pain, and the irritation that
comes from having to re-form an opinion or idea. None of
that sounds like any fun and I get it, but if you want to
serve the truth, you must think progressively and seek out
what is really going on in life. It may not be fun and it may
be hard work, but as we have seen, hard work of all kinds
pretty much always pays off in life and the dividends are
part of the Deeper Pleasures we have discussed.

It is all part of spiritual growth and I promise you that once
you start to practice it, it will become easier and more
natural and you will find that the deep satisfaction that you
