Interview guidelines
Before a scheduled interview:
• Jot down anything on their resume/not on their resume that you would like to
check/validate (must be work related only, i.e., Work Cover Provider number,
Qualifications, Registration details, etc.).
• Review the Interview Hints & Tips below.
• Review technical interview questions and select which ones you will use – you
shouldn’t need to use any more than 6 questions.
• Have an idea of what case study or testing you may like to conduct and have this
ready to use, depending on whether this is optional or essential.
• If you are a new hiring manager, read through and use the below RRP profile to
ensure you know the key information and benefits of working for RRP – make sure
you use the same process and interview questions for each candidate interviewed
for a particular role to ensure a clear, consistent and fair process, plus ease of direct
comparison between candidates.
When the candidate arrives:
• Once seated, explain the purpose of the interview, i.e., to learn more about them,
their experience, some testing (if applicable) etc. and give an approximate
timeframe, i.e. 45-60 minutes.
• Let the person know that you will be taking notes.
Give the candidate an overview of how the interview will be conducted, i.e. to:
• Learn more about their background and experience, focusing more on technical and
professional aspects (using the Technical Interview questions you had already
selected).
• Go over the job description in more detail, specifically around your location, clients
and customers and the breakdown of their responsibilities.
• Explain the following: Structure of the branch including staff numbers and break
down of roles by discipline. Specific information, e.g., customer requirements or
needs, special projects or activities, etc.
