Monoplegia : One limb
Triplegia : Three limbs
Paraplegia : Only legs involved
•Physiological classification (according to the major motor abnormalities):
Spastic CP : (70 to 80% )
Hypertonia with hyperreflexia
Positive babiniski sign ( extensor plantar response
Persistent primitive reflexes.
Dyskinetic CP: (10 to 20%)
Abnormal movements and/or change in tone (increased or decreased).
Rigidity: hypertonia with hyporeflexia or normal reflexes.
Chorea: quick irregular dysrythmic movements involve proximal skeletal
muscles.
Athetosis: slow twisting movements, usually along long axis of a limb, more
prominent distally.
Choreoathetosis: Chorea and Athetosis are commonly seen.
Dystonia: painful sustained contraction of a muscle group's → prolonged,
twisting, posturing of the face, limb or trunk, which involved.
Ataxic CP (5 to 10%): Disturbaces in balance and equilibrium: walk
unsteadily, poor coordination and balance often with hypotonia, hyporeflexia,
nystagmus.
Atonic (hypotonic) CP: Floppy infant with hyperreflexia, usually with marked
mental retardation.
Mixed forms : spaticity and ataxia may coexist.
