Please be aware that we need at least a week’s notice to alter an ebook price anywhere other than Amazon, as retailers can take a few days to action a price alteration. We will tweet about the price drop to our 2,500+ followers, which should help generate some renewed interest in your title.
Bear in mind that if you choose to drop the price of your ebook to below £1.99, Amazon will take 65% from each sale (as opposed to 30% if it’s priced between £1.99 and £9.99).You will need to decide whether you’re trying to sell a larger number of ebooks (by pricing it at 99p, for example) or hoping to make a higher return on any ebooks that you sell, by pricing it higher and perhaps selling fewer copies as a result.
One pricing method that aims to tackle this issue is ‘price pulsing’. This involves dropping the price to 99p and (hopefully) watching the ebook rise in the rankings. Once it’s in a reasonably high position in the charts and is therefore more discoverable, you can increase the price, allowing you to make more of a return while more people are purchasing it. When it starts dropping in the charts, you can then lower the price to encourage more sales.
Note that we cannot make your ebook available for free on Kindle unless it’s entered into the KDP Kindle Select programme, as Amazon doesn’t allow us to price an ebook at less than 99p. If you would like your ebook to be available for free we can make it free through other retailers prior to uploading it to Amazon.
 Paid-for Promotions
Amazon and BookBub offer paid for promotions, which can have varying degrees of success. Have a look at their sites if you plan to do this independently, orweofferthisatMatadoraspartofourExtendedMarketing Service.
