Anyone with an account can ‘follow’ you and you can ‘follow’ anybody else. As with Twitter, once you follow someone, their photos will show up on your timeline. This platform is designed to be used from your smartphone, so those who are less familiar and comfortable with technology might not find this as easy to use as Facebook.
GOODREADS
Goodreads is well-known among book lovers. An online catalogue of most books published, this allows individuals to search its database of books, quotes, reviews as well as joining the community hub to discuss favourite books. It’s your choice whether to sign up for an author account, but this is not an essential platform for you to be active on. Sometimes it’s best not to be if you’re the type to be distressed by a bad review! Even the best books in the world get the inevitable one or two-stars and the worst thing an author can do is respond!
Whether you choose to sign up or not, it’s not the best place to promote your own book over others – better, connect with other readers over favourite books, build a friendship, let them follow your other social media sites and find the book that way.
