The Einstein family

           suffered a major
           setback in 1894 when

           the company owned
           by Albert’s father filed ITALY

           for bankruptcy. Albert’s
           parents responded

           to this misfortune in
           a somewhat unusual

           way—they moved
           to Italy, but they left

           Albert behind! They insisted
that he finish his education at Luitpold,

and they set him up in a boardinghouse.
(A boardinghouse is a temporary home that

also provides meals for the people who are
staying there.) Albert continued his studies,

but the whole experience of being alone made
                        him deeply unhappy.

When people or organizations lose all their
money. If people file for bankruptcy, it
What is means they can no longer pay back any
           bankruptcy?
money they might owe to others.
