The September 27, 1935 edition of the Castle Rock Journal announced, “Well, well, well! We’re getting back to the good old times with a snowstorm on Thursday evening to clear the atmosphere for some good weather
for the Douglas County Fair
tomorrow and Sunday.” The
article talked about chariot
races in the snow, exhibit halls
full of worthwhile projects
and the scarcity of funds that precluded paying adequate
prize money.
There was some information
about the folks out at the
Civilian Conservation Corps
camp working on a display to show what they were doing in the way of soil erosion control.
The July 31, 1958 edition of the Castle Rock Journal announced that The Home Demonstration Council
decided on July 24 that each Home Demonstration Club would send 28 dozen cookies for 4-H Camp. Each club needed to report on the theme for its booth to the Extension O ce by September 1.
