                5. Policies

                5.1. Introduction

This part of the Plan contains the Policies that will help to meet the community’s
vision for Ashurst Wood and address key issues that have been raised during
consultation. Policies relate to the use and development of land.

The policies will be taken into account by the local planning authority, Mid Sussex
District Council, when determining planning applications. Applications will also be
determined with reference to national policy in the NPPF and the Mid Sussex Local
Plan 2004, which will be replaced in due course by the emerging District Plan.

Each policy category is preceded by an introductory section, which outlines the
background and intent of the policy and refers to relevant evidence contained in the
supporting documents and other evidence base material, which is listed in Appendix
                2. The supporting documents are available to read on the Village Council’s website
www.ashurstwood-vc.gov.uk and can be viewed at the Village Council’s office during
                normal working hours.
The website also provides copies of or links to the remaining evidence base
documents, or explains where they are available.
