Lovebirds is a romantic comedy about
a charming couple who are uninten-
tionally involved in a murder mystery.
It was directed by MICHAEL SHOW-
ALTER, 49. He was long best known
as a comedic actor (Hot Wet American
Summer) before moving over to direct-
ing. His first three films got fairly good
reviews but didn’t make much money.
That changed with The Big Sick (2017),
a romantic comedy about an interracial
couple who overcome many obstacles,
including illness. This low-budget in-
die film got great reviews and made a
lot of money.
