PRESCRIPTION DRUG COVERAGE
Prescription Drug Coverage
With enrollment into either medical plan, you will automatically have prescription drug
coverage through CVS Caremark. In addition to CVS Pharmacy, the plan includes a large
network of major chain pharmacies. Use the “Pharmacy Locator” tool on info.caremark.com
to locate a nearby pharmacy or to check that the retail pharmacy you use is in-network.
Managing Your Prescriptions
Registering with CVS Caremark keeps your prescription information organized and
gives you access to manage refills, submit new prescriptions, view your medications,
and compare drug costs. There are two convenient options:
Online Access: register at www.caremark.com
Smartphone Access: download the CVS/caremark™ app for free
on the Apple iTunes App Store or the Android Market
Maintenance Medications
Maintenance drugs are prescriptions used to treat conditions that are considered chronic or long-term.
These conditions usually require regular, daily use of medicines. Examples of maintenance drugs are
those used to treat high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma and diabetes.
CVS Caremark Mail Order
Participation in mail order is voluntary, but could save you time and money. Mail order is more common for
maintenance medications because it typically ships a 90-day supply of medication. Mail order may not be for you
if you need a prescription immediately or have a prescription that only requires a few doses (for example, a
prescription for medications post-surgery or antibiotics for an infection.) New prescriptions will arrive 7 to 10
days from the time CVS Caremark receives your order. Refills are delivered within 5 to 7 days from the time
CVS Caremark receives your request. Enroll at any time by visiting www.caremark.com/mailservice.

What is Formulary and Non-Formulary?
The formulary is a list of both generic and brand name drugs that are covered by the plan. Formulary drugs are
determined by a panel of experts based on their safety, effectiveness and cost. Non-formulary prescriptions are
drugs not included in the list of preferred drugs, and therefore are more costly. Medications on the formulary are
subject to change at any time. For the most up to date formulary, please visit info.caremark.com/druglist.
