UHC Centers of Excellence
A center of excellence (COE) is a team of doctors and shared facility that provides leadership, best practices,
research, support and/or training for a focused area of care. Effective January 1, 2019 we are offering 4 separate
and specialized centers of excellence through UHC for cancer, musculoskeletal (back and joint), inlammatory
conditions, and diabetes.
Bariatric Resource Services
If you’re considering bariatric surgery, this program connects you with a nurse, who can answer your questions
and help you ind a specialty facility that its your needs. Your nurse is there to give you complete support before
and after surgery. Our new COE will be the only in-network option in the U.S. If you choose to receive care outside
of our COE in the U.S., you will be responsible for the full cost of your care.

Kidney Resource Services provides specialized kidney case managers to help patients navigate challenges, improve
outcomes and reduce costs. Out-of-network care will not be covered in our health plans. If you receive care out-of-
network, you will be responsible for the full cost of your care.
