Dubai Creek to get Dh112 million restoration work

The iconic Dubai Creek will undergo intensive restoration work that is expected to cost
Dh112 million, according to Dubai Municipality.

The restoration work will be implemented in two phases, with the first phase involving the

restoration of a 2.1km stretch along the Deira side of Dubai Creek. The second phase will
cover a 2.3km stretch on the Bur Dubai side.

According to Dubai Municipality, the restoration project is aimed at preventing potential
flooding during rainy weather and improve safe docking of ships in the area. It will also
install 200 anchors along the creek.

“The project is set to improve security and safety measures for maritime traffic and
commercial operations within Dubai Creek,” said Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of
Dubai Municipality, “[The Creek] plays a key role in fostering the economic and social
prosperity of the emirate. Additionally, the creek further supports commercial dealings

with neighbouring markets in the region.”
