EdQuire White Paper: Computer	learning	behaviour	in	K-12

               3.	Summary	and	Conclusions

To	our	knowledge,	this	is	the	first	study	presenting	learning	analytics	using	continuous	objective	data	from
authentic	classroom	computer	use	in	the	body	of	K-12	literature,	answering	calls	for	such	data	from	many
educators	in	response	to	falling	ICT	skills	and	educational	outcomes	(NAP-ICT	2014).

Our	study	demonstrates	that	real-time	classroom	computer	learning	analytics	in	K-12	is	feasible	and	effective
as	a	teacher’s	tool	in	the	classroom	and	for	reflection.	This	platform	and	this	data	furthermore	form	the
                                                                              st
building	blocks	of	a	future	teaching	aide	and	an	assessment	tool	for	21 Century	skills.

Tools	and	reports	such	as	this	inform	educationalists,	teachers	and	students	to	better	understand	how	digital
technologies	are	used	in	classrooms,	and	once	validated	against	educational	outcomes,	how	they	may
provide	evidence-based	ways	of	using	ICT	for	improved	learning	by	all	students.

Our	findings	justify	expansion	to	future	larger	prospective	controlled	studies	from	a	greater	number	of
schools,	especially	ones	from	more	diverse	backgrounds	and	ICT	resource	levels,	where	even	greater	benefits
               may	be	expected.
