If you are to visit any property projects Personal Protective Equipment
(PPE) is to be worn to protect you from harm or to help others to be
aware of your presence. PPE is the last line of defence in the protection
against risks. The elimination/reduction of the hazard, or control of the
likelihood at source, is always the preferred course of action.
Property colleagues have a responsibility to ensure they wear PPE, it is
well maintained, fit for purpose and regularly inspected with any defects
reported.
PPE shall be worn correctly and not be defaced, untidy or in a state that
renders it ineffective.
Co-op asks all contractors to ensure that 5 points of PPE (Hard hat, hi-vis
vest, safety boots, gloves and safety eye wear) are worn unless a written
risk assessment determines that they are not needed. This risk
assessment should be displayed at site induction.
Co-op colleagues are expected to also follow these guidelines.
Please contact sally.law@coop.co.uk to order your PPE.
