eco-unfriendly activities began at about 10:30 AM and
you could still hear the unmistakable sound of barely
muffl ed V8’s abusing their brakes well past 4 PM when
the show was all but wrapped up.
So after this year’s show, instead of steeling
ourselves for the upcoming odyssey to another end
of the country, we congratulated the winners, took
everybody’s pictures, and watched as people started
to embark on their journeys home. Those of us who
were not leaving until the next day headed back to
Grafton, where we celebrated yet another successful
tour. But more importantly, we celebrated each other.
Our old friends, our new friends, our struggles, our
triumphs, and this thing of ours. Our rat rod family.
