“The project teaches participating
youth to be problem solvers and
innovators who think outside the
box, all while learning hands-on
skills in engine repair, electrical
systems, hydraulic systems, drive
train systems, and welding. They
also learn skills that have real
world application, including
collaboration, teamwork, budgeting,
patience, and persistence. From an
academic stand point, parameters
have been set that students who
participate in the Rat Rod build
must maintain at least a ‘C’ average
in all core classes at their school. “
