The event was founded in 2012 and
hosted, not by a club or organization,
but by friend (and Ambassador) of
Rat Rod Magazine, Jeremiah Gardner
along with a lot of help from his family
and friends. Rat Rod Magazine had
the pleasure of introducing you to
Jeremiah Gardner as a participant of
the 2014 Rat Hard Build-Off. Jeremiah’s
rat bike landed on our cover as the fi rst
place winner of the bike class of the
competition. Jeremiah not only runs
his own shop, Gardner Road Kustoms,
where he and his team build and
restore both bikes & rods, but he has
also taken the initiative to establish the
Rat Rod Nebraska extension of the Rat
Rod Magazine community.
The High Plains Riot is an absolute
manifestation of the passion Gardner
has for custom culture and his drive
to continue to grow the community.
“It’s not about trophies, money or
power, it’s about family, fun, food and
our collective love and passion for the
things we build!”
To kick the weekend off Gardner
invites the public to his shop where
he and his family serve up a Friday
night BBQ feast for all in attendance.
The streets around his shop are fi lled
with rat rods, show cars, and bikes,
and guests are welcomed to explore
the shop.

the parking area around the Weborg
Centre in downtown Gering, NE - a
state of the art, almost steampunk
decorated event venue that houses
some of the vendors and provides a
place for spectators to get a break
from the hot summer sun. The
event has seen some growth. The
fi rst show in 2012 had a meager
beginning with only 15 cars in
attendance. Now in its 5th year the
