2017 show had over one hundred
cars and bikes of every type, with
a strong showing of rat rods. One
thing the participants learn right
away upon arriving is that they
are the reason for the show. Each
is given a VIP badge they must
wear throughout the event, and
are invited to the VIP Party held at
the end of the fi rst day. Gardner
explains, “I want everyone that
brings their build here to know that
they are very important. It takes a
lot for some of them to get here and
they each need to be recognized
for it.” When the show is done the
“VIP’s” Take a break to get some
dinner then come back to the
Weborg Centre for the VIP party.
This year music was provided by the
talented Brett Collopy.
Along with a burnout contest and
delicious food from several vendors,
one of the draws for spectators to
check out is the large collection of
homemade and donated trophies. All
VIP’s were invited back on Sunday
for the Awards ceremony. “We love
handmade trophies and our door
prizes aren’t just drawn out of a hat.
They are given to participants that
actually have a need that we can fi ll.”
Looking towards the 2018 High
Plains Riot Gardner and his group
welcome the participants of the “Rat
Rod O.P. (Original Patina) Build-Off.”
This group has made The Riot their
fi nal destination of the drive- off
