COE’s have become the latest craze among hot
rod and rat rod builders, mainly because they are WHERE TO FIND IT:
cheap and plentiful. But Diedel was way ahead of ISSUE #9
the curve. He attended his fi rst American-themed OWNER: DIEDEL
car show in Sweden in 1994 and was awed by KOOS
the sight of a hot-rodded cabover. Not cutting PHOTOGRAPHY:
up the body and adding a custom bed made of RONALD VETH
weathered wood give the truck a stockish, almost
purposeful look despite the fact that the front
bumper is barely a frog’s hair off the ground.
If one big-block Mopar is good, then
two are better, right? This ‘37 Dodge
checks off so many of the good boxes. Twin
Chrysler 400’s up front help make a grand
entrance wherever this truck goes. The
infl uence of the gasser era of the ‘60’s is
readily apparent in the stance, suspension
setup, and wheel selection. The fact that
Greg only spent about $4,000 all in on his
ride shows that you don’t have to have your
own TV show to build a bitchin’ rat rod.
