We get reader submissions
all the time. Many are cool,
and may others are, ‘WTF?’.
Sepp’s defi nitely falls into
the ‘WTF?’ category, but in
a most wonderful way. He’s
normally a prolifi c collector of
Ford fl athead V8 and Lincoln
fl athead V12 engines, but when he found
this on eBay in Europe, he had to have it.
He had no idea if it ran, as its last job was
holding up a piece of glass as a table base in
someone’s house. He also had no idea how
to get it running. But as these things happen
amongst hot rodders, a guy came over to
look at a Model A hood Sepp had for sale
and remarked that he knew a guy who had
a very similar radial engine on a stand and

Our buddy Snoddy always incorporates cool,
off-the-wall stuff into his builds. His ‘40 Chevy is
no exception. The fi rst thing you notice is the two
shifters on the fl oor. One operates reverse and
fi rst, while the other is for second and third. That’s
cool, but check out the steering linkage. It’s a trick
cribbed from his experience as a championship-
winning Class 7 off-road truck racer. Space is at
a premium in those trucks with all of the added
suspension components, coolers, oil pumps, and
whatnot. To break up the clutter, he’d often run a
series of chains and sprockets from the steering
wheel over to the passenger side of the car where
there was a skosh more room. Necessary? Not in
this case. Badass? Indeed.
