About Tommy Ring:
I was born to Native Arkansans,
Rev. William E. Ring and wife,
Nellie M. Ring. My father was
a WWII war Hero, played jazz
guitar, and had a swing band
after the war. My mother played
piano and the two talented
parents passed their gifts
down to their children. I began
playing piano at age 5 and
played in talent contest early
on. In High School I played in
bands and always had a car
project going on at all times.
My father was a preacher that
pastored small churches unable
to pay, so he made a living
welding and working on cars.
The love for hot rods was
passed down to me. I played
clubs and Holiday and Ramada
Inn circuits, until landing a job
at the world famous Palamino
Club in North Hollywood
California. At the height of
success, I fell to the bottom
from drugs and alcohol.
Starting over in Arkansas,
I began writing for a Jingle
Studio and building hot rods.
The jingle studio eventually
went belly up, but the hot rods
lived on and still does. I am
thrilled to be in a position of
teaching and guidance to an up Tommy Ring
and coming rat rod generation
and where better to do it than RingRods HotRod Shop
