Tony was the kind of guy who would
do absolutely anything for you.
Luke forged ahead and worked
through the next several months,
building, designing, rebuilding,
redesigning…until June 2 , 2015,
nd
when Luke’s father went in for a
successful lung transplant. Two
days later, Luke’s mother broke a
leg, making Luke his folks’ full-
time driver and caregiver for the
next few months. Wild Torquey
was shelved. And as if all of that
weren’t enough, his younger sister
Shelbie passed away suddenly
st
at the age of 22 on August 31 .
Understandably, he lost any
motivation to pick up a wrench for
a while, but he kept busy - editing
and publishing the videos of his
build, as by now he had built up a
substantial fan base.
By November, Luke once again
got down to business, and with
a renewed sense of motivation
and determination, he resumed
construction. The coolness factor
of four doors is a shade above nil,
so Luke opted to massage the
necessary panels and window
openings to achieve the look of a
stretched two door. The roof was
chopped and the rear window
was sectioned slightly to achieve
a usable size. This car’s a driver, so
stuff like that is pretty important.
Channeling the body six inches puts
both the body and frame on the
ground when he dumps the bags.
