team at the nursery, who were originally concerned
that the works would cause disruption, have
commended the contractors for working with them
every step of the way.
Deputy manager Michelle Court said: ‘They’ve tried
to keep noise to a minimum during the children’s sleep
time. They’ve informed us of everything they were
doing on a daily basis and always come in to check
that everything is okay. It was very reassuring that they
were prepared to include us and look at what effect
the work may have on the nursery. The only impact
has been that the children have loved watching all the
diggers as they do the work. They’ve been brilliant.’
The icing on the cake came when Sisk Rail visited the
nursery and asked if they could do any work for them
as a gesture of good will. Staff asked if they could
tarmac the nursery’s car park, which was formerly
gravel, and mark proper spaces.
BRINGING HOPE TO CHILDREN THIS CHRISTMAS
In 2016 Sisk Ireland supported the Team Hope
Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. Team Hope enable
hundreds of thousands of poor children in Eastern
Europe and Africa to have a Christmas to remember.
Everything from pens and pencils for school, to
hygiene items such as toothbrushes and combs were
donated. Rosemary Dunne co-ordinated the collection
of boxes across the Ireland business. A huge thanks to
everybody who sent shoeboxes for your generosity.

made by apprentice carpenters in the Dublin Training
Centre. The team work tirelessly for weeks in the
lead up to Christmas to ensure all the toys make it to
various charities across the country in time. Beautifully
crafted, they range from dolls houses and trikes, to
trucks and easels.
George Sisk said of the project, ‘It was started 40
years ago by my father who had a dream to give
something back to the community. Every time I come
here it puts a smile on my face.’ Dave Tracey, our
Training Centre Manager, added, ‘The atmosphere is
electric. We have support from all our supply chain and
clients, many of whom come in and give a hand.’
