The BIM Steering Group sets goals and targets We have utilised BIM on a number of projects such
and agrees the company’s approach and as the AVIVA stadium. We had a parametric model
direction. The members of the group are: through all stages of projects, which meant the
complex curved form for the stadium was designed
Frank Quirk, Regional Managing Director - Ireland and constructed with ease and efficiency.

As part of the Steering Group Owen Sisk is actively
involved in promoting the use of BIM, and understands
the benefits it can give both ourselves and our clients.
Moving forward the plan is to roll out BIM on all our
projects over ¤10m. Owen says, “the key thing is to
make BIM simple, practical, easy to use and relevant for
each part of the business. We can do this by showing
where it can improve the commercial outcome of the
project as well as benefit our efficiency on site.” The Aviva Statium BIM model.
Cillian Kelly, BIM Leader
Ireland
“In my opinion, begin with
the end in mind.”
Cillian joined Sisk in 2011 as a Student Engineer on
the Monaghan Multiuser Education Campus Project.
During his time he developed a BIM Model of the
project which was utilised during site meetings,
inductions and for method statements during
construction. As a founder member of the SISK BIM
community group, Cillian is now the BIM Leader in
Ireland and is charge of ensuring Sisk meets our
client’s expectations.
“Since joining Sisk I have been lucky enough to
work on a large number of projects across different
sectors . I enjoy meeting with different project teams
and understanding what each individual team’s
expectations are in relation to BIM. Once we have
agreed expectations I look at resourcing, training/
upskilling, hardware, software and the project delivery.
I would like to encourage all staff to take a look at
the BIM intranet page to gain more awareness of the ‘The Capital Dock project (on page 14) has used a BIM
model. These images show the construction sequence
subject, read up on the most recent documentation progress report against a drone photograph of the site
and understand how to get training and support. We
are constantly updating the page and it is central
location for all BIM material and support.”
