Page 53 - Life is a Fight for Territory

So go ahead and try! Whether you fail or not, at least you are busy with living instead of standing on the side-lines of life, and that’s something to be applauded!
In 2012, Sara Blakely became the youngest self-made billionaire. She was 41. She is the creator and founder of Spanx, a women’s apparel product. The thing that impressed me most about her story was her recollection of sitting around the dinner table with her father every evening. He taught her the power of failing big, and failing often. “Every evening he would ask me, ‘So, what did you fail at today?”
Lack of failure means you are not stretching yourself outside your comfort zone.
By focusing on failing often, and using it as a freeing and liberating exercise in the process of becoming, Sara was allowed to understand that a lack of failure actually signified that she was not stretching herself far enough out of her comfort zone.
Each day we should strive to fully embrace life, and all the mess that it may bring. It’s when we live to be more than we were yesterday, and chase after it without fear, that we can begin to discover what we are made of and what we can become!
I encourage you to take risks, push against the imaginary barriers of life. Swim in the deep end! Choose to free fall! Don’t worry about failing. If you fail, it’s really okay! You’ll get up. You’ll try again! You’ll make it!
