Let’s take a second look at this unflinching determination though. Today’s warrior doesn’t generally have to worry about the opponent running up behind him with a sword or hiding in the bushes, waiting to knock him out. Today’s ambush is different, but just as deadly. Today we suffer death by distraction. We are pulled in and lose our focus to the ‘reality show’ going on all around us.
Okay, it’s true. There are plenty of distractions available, from watching television to overeating. Anything can become a distraction, but one of the most difficult (and deceptive) forms of distraction that draws us in and wastes our time is drama.
No, I’m not talking about Housewives of Dallas reality TV. I’m talking about drama in our daily lives. Each one of us has the ability to become distracted by it, feed into it, and allow it to suck the life right out of us, and it’s quite easy to do.
At first glance you may say to yourself, “I’m not involved in drama. This chapter definitely isn’t for me.” I thought you might think that. In fact, drama (and our desire to consume it) is so subtle that we often don’t realize how wrapped up in it we are.
