Thursday Morning’s Opening Keynote Session
Graham Fletcher will present
on Thursday morning
8:30 – 10:00
in the Exhibit Hall
Graham Fletcher is a dedicated educator, author, and thought
leader in elementary mathematics instruction, with over two
decades of experience as a classroom teacher, instructional
coach, and district math specialist. He is deeply passionate
about helping teachers and students access the beauty and
coherence of mathematics through conceptual reasoning,
meaningful tasks, and a strong emphasis on progressions of
learning.
Graham is best known for his work around three-act tasks, progression-based
instruction, and building fluency through context and sense-making, rather
than rote memorization. He frequently shares resources, lesson ideas, and
“progression videos” on his platform, gfletchy.com, with the goal of building
community, capacity, and confidence among math educators.
In addition to leading numerous workshops and keynote sessions across the
country, Graham has made contributions as a co-author for educational
mathematics programs. His presentations often invite participants to examine
the “why” behind mathematics, to consider how to balance conceptual
understanding, procedural fluency, and application, and to rethink pacing
through a progression lens.
We are honored to welcome Graham Fletcher to SCCTM, made possible by
the generous sponsorship of Zaner-Bloser, an organization known for its
commitment to foundational education and literacy.
