Abstrack








               T   his study focuses on the history of rural development thin-

                   king in Indonesia. Although the main feature is more con-
               cern to the academic thinking, namely the agricultural scientists
               who were assembled in the group of "Bogor School of Thought "
               in the second half of the decade of the twentieth century, it’s in-
               evitable to talk about the history of thought of the idea manifes-
               ted as government policy, the ideas of other academicians, stri-
               ving and activism of social movements and organizations.
                   The literature on rural development in the colonial period
               until independence revolves around the topic of access to land, la-
               bor, and capital. Rearrangement effort of controlling land, equal
               employment opportunities, and capital formation were carried
               out as an accomplishment of decolonization in the Independence
               period. This process had been lasted until the 1960s and broken
               off in the coming of the New Order, when Green Revolution and
               Modernization project raised.
                   Sajogyo and Gunawan Wiradi as the representations of
               "Bogor School of Thought", come up with critics attained from
               their empirical sociology researches. In the midst mainstream of
               rural development which was pursued through modernization in
               the Green Revolution Policy, they show the effects of increa-
               singly acuminate of social differentiation and the parties who be-
               come victims in the process, and they also emphasize the impor-
               tance of re-organization of rural agrarian structure. Therefore
