~Detroit Chapter~
TTA, the Detroit Chapter is doing exciting and great things! TTA, the Detroit Chapter hosted a successful Area V conference.
After successfully hosting the Area V conference, Detroit Top Teens partnered with the NAACP and hosted the annual NAAP
Freedom Fund Dinner. It is the largest sit-down dinner in the country. Along with hosting the NAACP Freedom Fund, teens
assisted with the cleaning and preparation of a teen homeless shelter. The teens also donated toiletries for the homeless teens.
Participating teens earned up to 80 hours
Top Teens also participated in a workshop called “One Crisis from “Crazy””. The teens truly enjoyed the presentation which
spoke of the importance of mental health and having someone to talk to about what is happening in their lives.
On May 19, Top Teens along with Top Ladies walked to raise money for St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. The walk was
held at Detroit’s Cass Technical High School.
Two Top Teens will graduate this June. Teens A’miya and A’meya Glover will graduate this year from Communication, Media
& Arts High School. The twins have had an exciting and successful high school career. Along with being talented with beautiful
singing voices, Teens A’miya and A’meya excel in academics and participate in track. Teen A’miya Glover was the Detroit
Chapter Miss Top Teen. Teen A’meya Glover is Top Teen of the Year for the Detroit chapter.
The Detroit and Renaissance Chapters partner together to for the Top Teens Walk for St. Jude on Saturday May 19,
2018. The walk took place at Cass Technical High School.
Although the Motown City endure a some refreshing liquid sunshine, the chapters continued to walk for the cause of
fighting childhood cancer.
Fun, bonding, and fundraising for a great cause made this event spectacular!!! 70
