is inheritance and transmitted ‫ ולמא ̇כלק אדם פי אליום‬,‫פי סת̈ה איאם‬
tradition, and this is because God ‫ ללעאלם סת̈ה איאם‬95‫אלסאדס ערפה אן ̇מצי‬
completed the creation of the world ‫ לה ואבתדא ללעדד מן‬96‫פעמל עלי מא קיל‬
in six days, and when he created ‫ ליס ללאסאביע דלא ̈לה‬97‫אול אלשבוע א̇ד‬
Adam on the sixth day, he informed
him that the world was six days old, .‫ כמא ללשהור וללסנין‬,‫תדל עליהא‬
and he [= Adam] did according to
what he was told, and began to count ‫ וכ̇דלך‬.‫ אלארבע̈ה תו̇ ̇כד מן אלמיר ̇את‬98‫פ ̇הדא‬
from the beginning of the week, for ‫צנא ̈עה אל̇דבא ̈חה ואל̇כתא ̈נה וכיפיתהמא‬
the weeks do not have an indicator ‫ פאמא מא יצח מן‬, ‫מ ̇א ̇כוד מן אלמירא̇ת‬
that indicates (their counting), like ‫אלנ̇טר ואלגדל ואלבח̇ת פליס אצלה מ ̇אכו̇ד‬
the months and the years.
And these four are acquired .‫מן אלמירא̇ת‬
through inheritance. And likewise
(knowledge of) ritual slaughter
and circumcision and their
correct execution are acquired
through inheritance. But what
can be understood on the basis of
reasoning, debate and investigation
is not acquired through inheritance.
