A cool fit for Australia’s retail market
EMBRACO SHOWCASED ITS latest solu- tion for supermarkets and convenience stores last month at Metcash Expo which was held in Australia from July 14 to 16, 2019.
Plug n’ Cool is a complete self-contained solution designed for reach-in applications in food retail, which reduces the store’s energy consumption with refrigeration by more than 30%, while improving cooling perfor- mance and food preservation. The system provides a “plug and play” option that accel- erates the installation process by 70%, and can replace the traditional machine room, avoiding refrigerant leakage and saving space in the cabinet and store.
Cabinets with Plug n’ Cool are easy to main- tain and modular in design. Refrigeration sys- tems are assembled and tested in the factory and are ready for installation. The equipment has a competitive total cost of ownership and it can be used in different store formats, from small family businesses to large wholesalers, which increases in-store design flexibility.
Plug n’ Cool works with R290 (natural re- frigerant), which has zero Ozone Depletion Po- tential (ODP) and negligible Global Warming Potential (GWP). Embraco has a history of pio- neering in the use of natural refrigerants.
Embraco sales manager for Asia Pacific, Herlon Eckermann, said the product is a good fit for Australian conditions. “We be- lieve in a portfolio that delivers value to the end user and have plans to expand our busi- ness in this market.
“We want to be the preferred partner of lo- cal distributors with the goal to increase Em- braco’s market share in Australia.

WEICON HAS DEVELOPED a new epoxy resin system especially for structural adhe- sive bondings known as Weicon HP (High Performance).
This product is a two-component epoxy resin system with extremely high impact resistance, which cures practically shrink-free.
The adhesive shows high adhesive strength and can be used universally on nearly all surfaces.
Its pasty texture makes it non-drip and spread- able. That way, it can also be used on vertical sur- faces and even for overhead applications.
Thanks to its high elongation at break, the sys- tem is also suitable for adhesive bondings on heavily vibrating components.
Weicon HP is ideal for lining heavily stressed pump housings, as wear protection for slide bear- ings, chutes and pipes and wherever darker col- oured adhesives are not suitable for visual reasons.
The term plastic metal describes epoxy res- in systems, which consist of two components, one resin and one hardener. The resin compo- nent is mixed with, depending on the type, steel or aluminium powder or mineral fillers, all of which improve the technical characteris- tics, such as the compressive strength and thermal conductivity. The epoxy resin system is suitable for a broad range of applications in different industrial areas.
For example, plastic metal can be used in the industrial series production for adhesive bondings, coatings and durable repairs on dif- ferent materials.
After mixing the two components, the plastic metal cures at room temperature to a solid, met- al-like material, which can then be machined.
It can be drilled, milled, sanded or filed, if required.
