and sustainable packaging. Lewis works for a variety of clients in government and the private sector to promote design for sustain- ability and increased recovery of products and packaging at end of life.
Lewis has published widely on product stewardship and sustainable packaging, her work providing valuable resources for the industry. Her most recent book is enti- tled Product stewardship in action: the business case for lifecycle thinking.
Lewis also recently co-developed a webi- nar examining ideas about how moving to a circular economy does not automatically mean reducing packaging. She believes that when used correctly, good packaging design can be a part of the solution. Her view is that life cycle and circular economy thinking allow for better design and deci- sion-making to make packaging a truly sus- tainable sector.
Lewis is an Adjunct Professor with the Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF) and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP).

He has success- fully led his team through one of the most challenging years to date, with Covid-19 having a major negative impact on the printing industry in particular.
Testament to the core values Jet Technologies represents, Malki’s commit- ment to his team and the business in 2020 has led to all staff being retained and Jet Technologies investing in adaptive solu- tions to keep operations running and con- tinue normal supply at a time when prod- uct demand levels have skyrocketed for many of the company’s customers.
Some milestone achievements in 2020 have been his appointment to the 2020 APCO National Packaging Targets Imple- mentation Working Group; making invest- ments in increased stock levels to service customers amidst unprecedented demand; introducing new product innovations to
Aleks Lajovic is managing director Impact International (see page 97), a family-owned Australian tube manufacturer. Lajovic has led his company’s drive for innovation in sustain- able packaging. This work has been widely recognised by the industry and has won Impact numerous awards from both printing and packaging professional organisations.
One of the most significant, and award- winning, initiatives has been Impact’s introduction of its sugar cane-derived plas- tic tube. This bio-based alternative comple- ments the existing virgin plastic and recy- cled plastic options in its portfolio.
Under Lajovic’s leadership, Impact installed a solar farm at its Sydney facility. With the installation, the company produces more than 30 per cent of its energy requirements – the equivalent of a reduction in carbon emissions of around 1200 to 1300 kilograms per day.
