Peter Marks
Peter Marks, Capability and Export direc- tor at Foodmach, has worked at the com- pany for 43 years, in roles ranging from design, manufacturing and project man- agement to sales and R&D. His depth of experience and engineering expertise has led to many innovative developments and patents for this Australian-owned OEM.
Marks has been a driving force for change within the business. Thirty years ago, he charted the strategic drive to design and manufacture high speed palletisers. This led to Foodmach launching the multi- award winning RoboMatrix, the fastest end-of line palletiser in the world at the time. The RoboMatrix became the bench- mark palletiser for all high-speed beer and beverage plants in Australia and overseas, with export sales still ongoing.
Marks has been a champion of process improvement, leading ongoing design and quality improvement initiatives. More recently, he is now the driver of the Foodmach business to design and build PPE manufacturing machinery. This extremely successful endeavour has resulted in securing contracts to supply seven medical face mask-making machines for Med-Con in Shepparton, Victoria.
Ralph Moyle
Ralph Moyle is an experienced food-pack- aging consultant with 40 years in the food
processing industry and 25 years focused on packaging. Through an impressive range of senior management experiences in pack- aging, operations, technical, and quality assurance in large and medium FMCG busi- nesses, Moyle has brought increased value to many organisations through the value of smarter packaging at less waste.
Moyle’s packaging knowledge has resulted in successful contemporary designs and material selections, improved shelf life, lower material costs, shorter sup- ply chains and environmentally friendly selections that have provided greater eco- nomic value. He has has been instrumental in training over 1000 people in the last 12 months in Sustainable Packaging, 2025 National Packaging Targets, Australasian Recycling Label and PREP.
Moyle is a past National President of the AIP, a Certified Packaging Professional (CPP) and a Fellow of the AIP. He was also recently awarded the AIP Founders Award for his significant contribution to packag- ing education and training in Australasia.
Jacky Nordsvan
Jacky Nordsvan is head of packaging at Nestlé Australia, and the initiator behind a number of ground-breaking sustainable packaging projects within Nestlé Australia.
Her work over the last 25-plus years has resulted in positive change in the packag- ing industry, bringing packaging sustain- ability, recyclability, labelling, and acces- sibility to the forefront of packaging design.
Nordsvan has helped develop tools and processes and engaged stakeholders to enable informed decisions on packaging sustainability and accessible packaging design in the concept phase of packaging development, which is key to improving environmental performance and packag- ing accessibility.
She is also a very strong collaborator across the industry and has been instru- mental in a number of partnerships between business and industry. Her engagement has included working with Planet Ark, Arthritis Australia and the Sustainable Packaging Alliance, as well as being a brand owner director on the Board of the Australian Packaging
Covenant Organisation since 2016. Her significant contribution to the industry has been recognised with a Fellowship to the AIP.
Lester Nichol
Industry stalwart Lester Nichol, chairman of Matthews Australasia, began his career early, working in his family’s wholesale fruit company. Looking to broaden his experience, in 1970 Nichol joined the very new Safeway Supermarkets, returning to part-time study. As he continued to develop his interest and knowledge in the whole- sale and retail supply chain, Nichol came across the fledgling product marking, cod- ing and the identification industry, becom- ing an expert in the symbologies, technolo- gies and methodologies. An idea to help manufacturers and retailers improve their efficiencies took shape.
By 1978 Nichol was part of founding the group that introduced barcodes domestically, GS1 Australia’s forebear: the Australian Product Numbering Asso- ciation. Realising the benefits for Aus- tralian manufacturers has underpinned his career since.
In 2017, Nichol stepped aside from the Matthews CEO role, remaining as chair- man. He was also recognised for his con- tribution to broader industry, receiving the inaugural Industry Packaging & Processing Professional of the Year Award from the industry’s peak bodies, the APPMA and AIP.
Anthony Peyton
Anthony Peyton is the founder of PREP Design, which is a joint venture of Gre- enChip, Planet Ark and Innovyz Waste
