       GENTLE HANDLING
WITH NEW GRIPPER
SCHMALZ has released its new gripper to handle delicate food products, ensuring they remain packaged safely and kept intact.
The new Schmalz Finger Gripper OFG aims to automatically handle unpacked food products, such as doughnuts, chocolate kisses, fruit, and vegetables, while being transported hygienically and gently.
It has four rounded, bending fingers made from silicone, which imitate a human hand.
It is FDA-compliant, while the main body of the equipment is designed to be easily cleaned, and can be made of PET-P (polyethylene terephthalate) or aluminium.
When pressure inside the gripper increases, the finger bends to form fit, while when pressure decreases, it retracts.
There is also an option for a centrally positioned suction cup to increase gripping force and stability during transfer.
The gripper has the option for a ‘basic’ control unit – opening and closing via vacuum and pressure –
as well as a ‘controlled’ control unit, allowing parameters to be configured by USB or a serial interface. A robot controller can also be integrated to the gripper to adjust the opening angle and gripping force.
The model is suitable in industrial environments, and is heat resistant up to 200 degrees Celsius.
It is protected against water and dust, in accordance with protection class IP68, and has a pressure range from – 0.8 to 1.6 bar.
NEW ITALIAN NOZZLES NOW AVAILABLE IN ANZ REGION
TECPRO Australia has introduced a new range of Mini Quick-Fit Nozzles, developed by Italian nozzle manufacturer PNR, to the region.
The nozzles are made from glass fibre-reinforced polypropylene, designed to be less prone to chemical attacks and maintain maximum stability at high temperatures, as well as an alternative to stainless steel spray bar nozzles.
The Mini Quick-Fit Nozzles also include a gasket (or seal) to avoid the risk of leakage, and can handle water pressure from 1 to 5 bar.
The nozzles are available as full cone or flat fan varieties, allowing for a range of spray angles, and are suitable for dust suppression, powder coating or any tool-free, spray bar installation.
Tecpro Australia is the exclusive distributor of the PNR Mini Quick-Fit
Spray Nozzles in the Australasian region.
LIGHTWEIGHT, HANDS-FREE SCANNING MADE EASY
A new hands-free wearable scanner from Datalogic aims to deliver efficiency, accuracy, reliability and ergonomic benefits when used in a range of settings, including logistics, manufacturing and warehouses.
The HandScanner weights 40 grams and measures 50x45x16 milimetres. It is designed to work with static, semi-static and dynamic work stations.
It features a megapixel sensor, and can capture both 1D and 2D barcodes, while using low energy Bluetooth connectivity to communicate with devices.
“Compared to ring scanners, the HandScanner is thinner and is positioned on the back of the hand, therefore it is less intrusive and less exposed to hits than a ring scanner that stays on the fingers of a worker,” says Datalogic product manager Stefano Pistis.
“This durable, practical and ergonomic design results in up to a 20 per cent reduction in scanner damage. A fully charged HandScanner battery can run up to 15 hours and 10,000 scans.”
The battery can be fully recharged in two hours.
COMPACT CLEAN CLOSURES
TREOTHAM Automation’s latest series of hygienic closures will help meet the requirements of the food and beverage sector, with its compact solution.
The new ILME CKH
Hygienic “21.21” size range is made of self-extinguishing thermoplastic material (PA), and is easy to clean.
The blue-coloured moving or removable parts can be easily identified by video inspection to avoid any accidental contamination in food products, while the locking levers are also traceable by metal detectors.
Treotham’s enclosures can withstand high-pressure and high-temperature wash-down procedures due to its IP 66/67/69 degree of protection, guaranteeing also high durability over time. The enclosures are compliant with many regulations in the sector, and can be used with a range of inserts including power, signal and data connectors.
       NORD CLEANS UP
NORD Drivesystems has added new options to its range of efficient and hygienic solutions available for use in the bakery industry.
The new nsd tupH surface treatment allows for anti-corrosion treatment for gear units, smooth motors, frequency inverters and motor starts in washdown- optimised cast aluminium housings.
A treatment is also available for Nord products made from aluminium, where the fan-less smooth motors run quietly and do not spread germs.
Nord has also released its Maxxdrive industrial gear units, ensuring reliable operation of up to 282 kNm, as well as a long service life.
In combination with the Maxxdrive units and an energy-efficient electric motor from Nord, the Safmoni IEC adapter can also benefit mixers by reducing the number of wearing parts and attached components.
