At the back of the house, there is a Kitchen for cooking and smoking fish
or meat. Behind the kitchen is the Pelimpahan Room, which is used for washing

and cleaning. There is also a Garang Area, a semi-open space for drying
clothes and other items. Houses near rivers usually have a storage space for

bidar boats, which were used for transportation.

Rumah Limas is well-known for its carved decorations and ornaments. Most
carvings have plant motifs, such as flowers, leaves, bamboo shoots, and fruits.

These motifs symbolize life, prosperity, purity, politeness, and faith in God. The
common colors are gold, red, yellow, black, and brown, representing wealth

          and harmony.

One of the most important ornaments is the Simbar Tanduk Menjangan,
which decorates the roof. It symbolizes strength, leadership, and harmony with

nature. The decorations of Rumah Limas show the high skill, patience, and

          creativity of Palembang craftsmen.
