meetings between Mr. Rothman and Mr. Pellicano (Michael
Jackson's investigator), and meetings with Dr. Chandler, his
ex-wife, her husband and Mr. Rothman. The boy and his fa-
ther also spent an enormous amount of time in this conference
room after the child molestation allegations surfaced.
In addition to the building security, there was an incred-
ible amount of in-house secrecy, which gave the impression
that something fishy was going on. Usually law office staff,
especially the legal secretary, are privy to the cases being
handled by the attorney(s). They are involved at least on a cleri-
cal level; in that they type the correspondence, memos, time-
sheets and are hands-on with the client file. I recall being hands-

respondence to memorialize the many telephone conversa-
tions. Only the associate attorneys were privy to what was
going on and they were only told what Mr. Rothman wanted
them to know. I did, however, gain favor with the female as-
sociate attorney and learned a lot about Mr. Rothman, his prac-
tice and even some inside details concerning the case. I hold
that information as confidential because she was a practicing
attorney under the code of confidentiality. She did, however,
give me a better understanding of what was going on in the
office and surrounding the case, especially when it became
public knowledge.
Two weeks before the child molestation allegation surfaced,
our receptionist suddenly quit. She said she couldn't take
Rothman's abuse anymore. Her timing was unfortunate for
