Pharmacy
The role of the Pharmacy Department is to support the safe and effective use of medicines for all of our patients. We have pharmacies located at the main London Bridge Hospital site, Private Care at Guy’s and HCA UK at The Shard, which all provide the following services:
• Dispensary services – our pharmacy technicians and assistants provide medicines for patients admitted to the hospital, medicines for discharge and those prescribed during outpatient visits.
• Clinical pharmacy services – our highly trained specialist pharmacists and non- medical prescribers work closely with medical and nursing staff on the ward. Their responsibilities include medication reviews to ensure patients are receiving the safest and most appropriate medication for their needs, provision of medicine information and advice. They also identify and manage the complex pharmaceutical needs of patients to help ensure cost- effective prescribing practices.
• Technical services – our pharmacy technicians and pharmacists prepare specialist anti-cancer medicines in a sterile environment.
