5. Personal accident cover
What does personal accident refer to?
Personal accident refers to cover for any nominated members of your household for death
or disability directly caused by an accident occurring anywhere in the world provided that
death or disability occurs within 12 months of this accident. Only people between the ages
of 14 and 70 can be covered.
The insured value
The insured value for each category of personal accident cover is noted below and is the
maximum amount we will pay if you claim.
Benefits table
Accidental injury directly causing:
Death; (this includes presumption of death (determined by a court of law) following
disappearance after an accident involving any vehicle, air- or watercraft in which the 100%
insured was traveling)
Permanent disability as specified below:
Total loss (at or above the wrist or ankle) of one or more limbs 100%
Loss of four fingers 70%
Loss of whole thumb 25%
Loss of half a thumb 10%
Loss of whole index finger 10%
Loss of one third of index finger 8%
Loss of two thirds of index finger 4%
Loss of whole middle finger 6%
Loss of two thirds of middle finger 4%
Loss of one third of middle finger 2%
Loss of whole ring finger 5%
Loss of two thirds of ring finger 4%
Loss of one third of ring finger 2%
Loss of whole little finger 4%
Loss of two thirds of little finger 3%
Loss of one third of little finger 2%
Loss of first or second metacarpal 3%
Loss of third, fourth or fifth metacarpal 2%
Loss of all toes on one foot 30%
Total loss of big toe 5%
Total loss of half of big toe 2%
Total loss of toe other than big toe 1%
Loss of hearing in both ears 80%
Loss of hearing in one ear 25%
Loss of whole eye 100%
Permanent loss of sight in one or both eyes 100%
Loss of sight, except perception of light 75%
Loss of lens of eye 75%
Injuries resulting in total paralysis, total inability to perform your usual job (or another job 100%
which suits your skills and knowledge), or being permanently bedridden
Permanent disfigurement resulting from burns to the face and neck 50%
Permanent disfigurement resulting from burns to other part of the body 25%
Temporary Total Disability: This benefit is limited to the lesser of N$ 12,000.00 per month or 75% of the injured
employee's monthly earnings. The time period is also limited to 12 months.
Medical Expenses: This benefit is limited to the amount stated in the schedule.
