“I’m a real New Yorker, so this city ” is the center for me after all. There aren’t many real New Yorkers left.

ronto, Singapore and Hong Kong - they are centers in their own right and we were very successful there. Singapore is just too hot and humid! I’m a real New Yorker, so this city is the center for me af- ter all. There aren’t many real New York- ers left.
How did you experience the art mar- ket in New York?
I started selling prints on the streets, that started around 2003. A couple years in I met Stella and we connected instant- ly and had some gigs together and hit the stage - Rock’n’Roll baby! Things really took off and we opened several
popups in Chelsea and we pushed our work to amazing heights with amazing collectors, but we knew we were living in a bubble. People were looking at our work like we stole it out of a museum. And generally, people are so disconnect- ed these days. People used to stop and chat when we parked on the streets with our van. That doesn’t happen anymore. There’s been a clear change of culture in the last couple years. So we took a break and I started selling from the store of a young New York fashion label that is run by my friend Gilles Blanchard. It’s a great way to meet people and I love to get to know new people and get inspired.
