 difficult to reach. The buildings here attracted artists - it’s old factories with a lot of light and a lot of space. So they moved here from Soho when that started to become too expensive and now Chelsea is becoming too ex- pensive. It all started around the time when Chelsea Market opened shop - it used to be a biscuit factory. Don’t get me wrong - the people at Jamestown Management and all the folks at the Chelsea Market have always been un-
believable to us. They really support their local artists and I exhibited my work there for several months. All in all it became more commercial tho. Google moved next door and they even bought Chelsea Market a while ago.
Is New York the centre of the art world?
