Edgard Nuñez, MD
Dr. Edgard Nuñez is the Deputy Chief Medical Officer
at Community Health of South Florida Inc (CHI). He has
been a family medicine provider at CHI since 2002. Dr.
Nuñez is responsible for oversight of satellite service
providers as well as provider recruitment and retention.
Born in Managua, Nicaragua, his motivations to become
a physician stem from his early childhood experiences
when he admired the passion for medicine from his family
doctor in his hometown of Corinto, Nicaragua. Dr. Nuñez
earned his doctorate of medicine and surgery degree from
the Universidad Autonoma of Honduras in 1983. A few
years later, Dr. Nuñez immigrated to the United States

Saint Anthony Amofah, MD
Dr. Saint Anthony Amofah is the Chief Medical Officer
at the Community Health of South Florida Inc. (CHI),
where he is also the Chief Academic Officer for The
Brodes H. Hartley Jr. Teaching Health Center at CHI.
As CHI’s Chief Medical Officer, he is responsible for the

oversight and direction of the center’s clinical programs

and services including primary and specialty services,
pharmacy, laboratory, health information management
and radiology. Dr. Amofah chairs CHI’s Performance
Improvement Council, coordinates CHI’s accreditation
activities and is an ambulatory care surveyor for the Joint
Commission.
As a Bureau of Primary Health Care Health Disparities Collaboratives clinical schol-
ar, Dr. Amofah has made significant contributions to and presented at national gath-
erings on the sustaining and spreading of gains in chronic disease care. Additionally,
Dr. Amofah has presented at local, state and national levels on the benefits and chal-
lenges of utilization of EHRs.
Dr. Amofah is board certified in internal medicine, a fellow of the American College
of Physicians, and is certified in risk management, managed care, and healthcare qual-
ity and management. He obtained his MBA with specialization in health services
administration from the University of Miami and earned his medical degree from the
University of Ghana Medical School.
When the White House wants guidance on how to address disparities in the health
care of underserved minority populations, it turns to Dr. Amofah. He has gone to
Washington, D.C., multiple times to serve as a subject expert in health care.
Elizabeth Philippe, MD
Dr. Elizabeth Philippe is Community Health of South
Florida’s (CHI) Chief of Family Medicine and is a board-
certified practitioner. She is also Program Director for the
family medicine residency program and Interim Director
of Medical Education for the Brodes H. Hartley Teaching
Health Center at CHI.
Dr. Philippe was inspired to help people in underserved
communities after graduating from the State University
Medical School of Haiti in 1984. She discovered this pas-
sion when she was completing a one-year requirement in
a disadvantaged area in Haiti. To further her goals, she
pursued her studies at Yale University where she obtained
a master’s degree in public health in 1986.
In 1990, she served as the National Coordinator for the Haitian Ministry of Public
Health’s Maternal and Child Health Program. Soon after, she joined the World Health
Organization/Pan American Health Organization and was actively involved with its
national immunization program.
Dr. Philippe is a strong part of the leadership team at CHI and continues to find
innovative ways to address public health disparities, ensuring that CHI meets its care
gaps.
