6. The Gender of Noun
Dear students! we have done gender in the previous classes. Let's revise it now.
There are four types of gender :
1. Masculine gender G 3. Common gender
(males) (Both male and female)
(boy, king, dog) E (teacher, doctor, child)

2. Feminine gender D 4. Neuter gender
(females) E (non-living things)
(girl, queen, bitch) R (bench, table, chair)
Read the following sentences :
1. Peter is a brave boy.
2. Pinky is a good girl.
3. That child is my friend.
4. The book is on the table.
In sentence (1), Peter and boy are the names of males. They are therefore
said to be of the masculine gender .
A noun that is the name of any male person or animal is said to be of the
masculine gender; as boy, man, uncle, nephew, lion, bull, etc.
In sentence (2), Pinky and girl are the names of females. They are therefore
said to be of the feminine gender .
A noun that is the name of any female person or animal is said to be of the
feminine gender; as girl, woman, aunt, niece, lioness, cow, etc.
