11. The Preposition
Prepositions show the relationship of a noun or a pronoun with another word in
a sentence. They are usually followed by a noun or a pronoun.
Examples : (a) The fox jumped into the well.
(b) Amit walked across the field.
(c) The cat sits on the sofa.
(d) We are playing under the tree.
A preposition is said to govern a noun or pronoun and is always followed by the
objective case.
