As senior vice president, Human Resources, for The Walt Disney
Company’s Direct-to-Consumer & International (DTCI) segment,
Jim Lygopoulos oversees human resources strategy, talent
acquisition, employee relations, rewards, leadership development,
diversity and inclusion, organization and talent solutions, and HR
operations for the segment. He has been in this role since the
segment was formed in March 2018.
Disney’s Direct-to-Consumer & International segment includes
Disney’s international media operations stretching from Europe to
Asia to Latin America and the Company’s direct-to-consumer
streaming businesses, including the upcoming Disney+ service set
JIM to debut in the U.S. in late 2019 and ESPN+ which was launched
LYGOPOULOS in April 2018. DTCI also houses global advertising sales and ad
technology for Disney media properties which include ABC, ESPN,
Freeform, FX Networks, National Geographic, and the Disney
SVP, Channels. The Company’s content sales operations—including
Human Resources global distribution of film and TV content to Disney+, Hulu and
Direct-to-Consumer other third-party platforms, as well as Movies Anywhere—are also
& International part of the Direct-to-Consumer & International business segment.
Prior to his current role, Lygopoulos served as senior vice
president, Corporate HR, where he supported the corporate
leaders and teams of the Company. He previously served as
general manager, Taiwan for The Walt Disney Company. In this
role, he was responsible for driving The Walt Disney Company’s
strategy, coordinating and leading all company business divisions,
overseeing Disney global franchises, expanding existing
businesses and seeking out new business opportunities in the
growing market of Taiwan. Additionally, he served as vice
president, Human Resources for the Company’s Asia Pacific
region, based in Hong Kong initially and then in Shanghai, leading
the development and management of the human resources
strategies for all of the employees of the Walt Disney Company
and all HR teams in Asia Pacific including Mainland China, Hong
Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, South East Asia, Australia and New
Zealand.
Before joining Disney, Lygopoulos held various senior HR
positions in Australia.
He received a bachelor of business in Human Resources and
Industrial Relations from the Royal Melbourne Institute of
Technology (RMIT) and a master’ s degree from Victoria
University in Australia. Lygopoulos is based in Burbank, California.
