As a small group of passengers left the concourse to board
their plane, Shawn got up, too. He never stayed in one area for
too long. Then he noticed a backpack tucked under a seat. He
was no thief, but if the flight that was boarding took off and no
one came back for the bag, he might just have a look. He sat in
the seat, legs covering the backpack, pretending not to notice
it.
Reflect on It
Read over your story ending and those of one or two of your
classmates. What is good about each ending? What could
make each better? Write down the qualities you find essential
to a good story ending. Would any of those qualities also apply
to the ending of an essay?
