Essay Tests
When you take an essay test, you may be required to use a blue book
or to write on the test itself. If you are allowed to use your own paper,
use lined paper and write on one side only.
Answers to questions on essay tests should be written in blue or black
ink. Because time is too limited for a rough draft, take a moment to
organize your thoughts, and then answer the question. Indent each
paragraph three-quarters of an inch to one inch. Just as in any
paragraph or essay, state your main idea first.
Computer-Generated Documents
Word processing programs can make it easy to format your document.
If you are unsure how to use your program’s features, try looking up a
video tutorial on YouTube.
Setting Up Your Document
Choose a font and a font size that are easily readable, such as Times
New Roman in a 12-point size. Do not use a bold or italic font.
