Learning Objectives
In this chapter, you will learn how to
1 Identify run-ons and comma splices.
2 Correct run-ons and comma splices using five methods.
A fender-bender is an unfortunate incident. Aside
from the damage to the cars, there’s the red tape
of insurance claims and maybe even a costly
traffic ticket. Run-on sentences are similarly
unfortunate. Aside from the damage to sentence
structure, there’s red ink on your essay, and
maybe even a grade penalty. Run-on sentences
can be corrected or avoided. This chapter shows
you how.
