               Run-ons in Sentence Groups






               Correct the two run-ons in each of the following sentence groups,
               writing your corrections on the lines provided.




                    1.  Isabel sat down at her computer to do homework fifteen

                        minutes later she was posting on a social network. College

                        students are not alone in being distracted by the Internet, office
                        workers also spend a significant amount of work time surfing

                        the Net.





                    2.  Alfreda gets her oil changed at Lube’n’Go, her husband goes to
                        Slick City and pays twice as much. Alfreda does not understand

                        why he continues to pay exorbitant prices, he claims, however,

                        that Slick City does a better job.





                    3.  Society’s expectations about education have changed, a high
                        school diploma is no longer adequate preparation for most jobs.

                        Employers are demanding a more educated workforce a

                        college or technical school diploma is required for many jobs.
